The voices in my head have faces!

I tend to be a visual person, so I have this 'inspiration board' on my computer to help me keep a firm grasp on my characters. Some of these are celebrities (I think) and some are just random faces I found on the web. I thought I'd share them, and we can see who agrees or disagrees with me.

Disclaimer: whatever it is that is supposed to be said here about not owning rights to these pics or not intending to step on toes or piss celebrities off, or  not intending to associate a certain person with my characters, etc. etc. etc... Yeah, that.

Row 1 (top): Dimitri, Marchand, Cohn, Breannah, Auviannah, Cahtiannah, Dre
Row 2: Gretchen, Daniel, Ryn, Tori, Lea, Dain, Adie
Row 3: Laisa, Mitch, Abel, Mae, Kia, Karak, Cait (don't worry bout her yet)
Row 4: Toni, Shayne, Jaroz, Vivie, Caiden, Kako, "Lucy" (yes, he'll be back)

Also, a little graphic fun (because I get super board at work and have nothing to do and no internet access)

That is all. Carry on with the rest of your day!

My First Real Review

My first real review is out, and it isn't negative! WOOHOO!!

From Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock:

"This book was a gift from the author and Paranormal Romance and Authors That Rock for my honest review. This is the first in the series as we start off with meeting Tori, who is part Fae and part Pixie, a mercenary, and triplet. We get to know her though the story as she starts her adventure guarding a human girl in a coma. In comes Ryn. We find out that Tori and Ryn had a brief history that didn’t end so well, but now they have to work together to protect this girl. Through this story we follow Tori and Ryn as they work out their attraction, find out what is really going on with the human girl, and the many other dangers that follow. Tori’s two other sisters Lea and Mae are introduced as well, but we really get to know Mae in this book. The interaction between Tori and Mae is hilarious and crazy! They are very close but also can’t stand each other for very long. I really liked Tori, Ryn,and Mae and how believable and real they felt to me. Tori is a strong warrior, but has a softer side she tries to hide. Ryn is a super alpha male, but lets Tori be herself as much as he can.Mae is just crazy, but so likable! I read this book in one day as I couldn’t put it down,I had to see what would happen next ! The scenes were tense, funny, emotional, and steamy all rolled into one. I would give this book 5 stars instead of the 4, but I was not sold on the cover art. It just didn’t jump out at me and say hey look at me! Boy would I have missed out! I will definitely be buying the next in the series. I would definitely recommend this book to others, but there are some steamy love scenes so 18 and over!"

Ready, Set, Publish!

The Reckoning continues to wreak havoc on the tribe of Fae, and Mae is feeling its effects. Not only is her past haunting her at every turn, her powers are out of control. Even the smallest of illusions can have deadly consequences these days.

Beyond that, life has simply lost it's oomph. Even in the middle of a family crisis and a potential all-realm war, Mae feels empty and unfulfilled. After 2500 years, nothing seems exciting anymore, and she finds herself becoming more and more reckless as she searches for any kind of thrill.

Then a man with a deadly secret changes everything...

An immortal with no memory of who or what he is, Abel is counting on Mae to help him navigate the world he thought only existed in stories. Unfortunately, she can't seem to separate her professional obligations and her personal desires, and both seem to be wrapped up in her mysterious charge. He's everything she never knew she wanted, all she'll ever need... and completely off limits.

Too bad nobody told her heart that.

Stick a fork in me...

2:43 am and editing is DONE! Glossary and side bits are DONE! Tomorrow is all about the cover, compiling and uploading. Publication should happen Monday, which means the book should be live Tuesday (or Wednesday, depending on the site).

So, now I need my 'reviewers' to inbox me with an email address and what type of file you need (mobi, azw, epub, etc.). I'll send them out tomorrow.

I'm so excited, more than a little exhausted, and totally proud of myself. And now, I'm going to bed... most likely, I'll have nightmares about something very, very wrong that I saw on fb today. There are just some things that you can't unsee (thanks Joe).

Thank you for supporting me, liking me, and for loving words as much as I do. <3

Amazing Book for an Amazing Cause

Stories for Amanda is an anthology of short stories, written by 16 different contemporary authors, with all proceeds going to a wonderful anti-bullying charity. I was bullied in school... not terrorized,...
and not all the time, certainly not enough to make me want to end my life... but while I dealt with just a taste of it, there are kids who are hounded relentlessly until they just want to give up. Amanda Todd was one of them.

Three weeks before taking her life, Amanda made a video that told her story. She wanted to help other kids by sharing her pain. You can find that video on youtube.

All proceeds from this book will go to AmandaToddLegacy.org- an organization dedicated to eradicating bullying, and helping those who have been victims of cruelty.

AUTHORS:
Karen Avivi - Kahlen Aymes - E.K. Blair - J. L. Brooks - Kelly Elliott - Kailin Gow - Karina Halle - Nina Lane - Raine Miller - E. L. Montes – Alexa Nazzaro - Claire Contreras - Jessica Prince - Madeline Sheehan - Michelle A. Valentine - Nikki Worrell

While I couldn't find a link to pre-order this book, I do know it's scheduled to release this month, and have included a link to it on Goodreads. If you are a fan of any of these wonderful authors, or even if you have no idea who they are, please pick up this book and support this cause!

Book 1 on sale & book 2 release date & a sneak peek

Ok, so yes... I am running behind. But hey, it's not all my fault, my editor is slacking too. By slacking, I mean managing her real life (since I don't pay her to edit... yet). Working full time while trying to write, rewrite and edit kind of sucks, but hey... one day, right?

So... tentative release date for book 2... I'm going to say Oct. 20, but I hope that it will be more like the 15th. Excited? I hope so, because this story just keeps getting crazier!

AND... book 1 is now 99 cents everywhere, and will most likely stay that way for a while. Spread the word, get it cheap, and please, please, please, PLEASE leave a review somewhere!!!

Finally, for those who miss Tori & Ryn, here's a lil' some-something from book 2 for you!

WARNING: contains naughty bits!

~*~

“You know,” Tori barked, “I am quite capable of sitting in a chair, Smoky.”
Ryn only smiled, pissing her off even more. “Yeah, but why would you want to when you have this?” He held his hands out, offering himself to her, then reached out and yanked her onto his lap.
Tori sighed and snuggled against him. “Kind of hard to pack like this, babe.” Despite her protests, her hands traveled up Ryn’s chest, over his shoulders, up his neck and into his hair.
I’ve been thinking,” he said, “about your riding back home.”
I told you; I’m not riding bitch on my own bike. Hell, no.”
I get that, baby,” he said, the endearment sending a tiny shudder through her, “but I still want to go with you. I’m thinking I should buy a bike.”
Tori pictured Ryn in leather, straddling a steel beast. That, she thought, was a most excellent idea. She told him so, then emphasized the point by kissing him senseless.
He flipped her around so that she was straddling him, then took control of the kiss, tangling his hands in her hair. Fuck packing, she thought, breaking the kiss long enough to yank her shirt over her head. Ryn groaned, burying his face in her chest. She could feel his smile against her skin.
Something funny?” she panted.
I’m just damn happy that you’re so cooperative now. Not that these aren’t worth working for,” he mumbled before clamping his mouth down on her nipple. Tori grabbed his head and held him against her.
That’s really nice of you to say,” she said on a sigh, “but Ryn?”
Yeah?” he answered around her flesh.
Shut up,” she said, pushing harder on his head.

Please don't hate me!

So... I'm not going to make the Sept. 30 deadline.

I know most of you aren't terribly affected by this, but there are a few who are going to want to string me up. I don't blame you... I know that feeling when you're waiting and waiting and just before it's happy book time, the release date changes. I hate it. Sometimes I even yell at my computer, having to take it out on something! And here I am doing it myself.

But really, it can't be helped. I could release the book right now, but it wouldn't be as good as I know it can be, and then none of us would be happy.

So, give me another week, two at the most... I promise, it will be worth it!

***ALERT! This weekend, book 1 will be 99 cents everywhere! Well, not the paperback, obviously, but... B&N, Amazon, All Romance. Spread the word!

Round One Done!

Round one, which meant hours of re-writes, is finally complete. Now, with the rough draft loaded on my Nook, it's time to start the serious editing portion of our program.

This is actually my favorite phase, as it will be the first time I get to read the book all the way through! I can't wait to see what happens! ;)

Book 1 available everywhere! (not really though)

Book 1 is now available in all these handy-dandy places:

I am still working on formatting the manuscript for Smashwords... stay tuned!

Tentative release date for book 2 is still Sept. 30... so far, so good!

Tiny Snippet and News

Book 2 is done! I'm currently in rewrite mode, then will move on to "the land of a thousand edits" and then.... drumroll... publication on September 30th!

Also, I'm coming up on the end of my Amazon-only deal, so book 1 will be available on Barnes & Noble and All Romance the first week of September. If I manage to properly format the manuscript, it will be available on Smashwords as well (we shall see).

And now, your tiny snippet... Don't get too excited, it's just a teaser lol

“Find that phone,” Mae barked, “and destroy it!”
Abel flung himself across her as he searched frantically for the ringing phone. Hard abs pressed against soft stomach. Good morning.
As he reached for the ground where the phone had apparently fallen, he slipped, crashing to the floor on his head.
“Gods, are you hurt?” she cried, sitting up on her knees to check on him. He sat up, rubbing his head and grinning at her, then handed her the phone.

Random Snippet: Abel is Tested

Out of the blue, the bedroom door flew open as Tori burst into the room.

“Jesus!” Abel cried out, gasping for air and looking over to make sure he didn't wake up Mae.

“Come on,” Tori barked at him. What was happening? He didn't think he'd done anything wrong.

Abel took off down the hall, all but running to keep up with Tori as she stomped up the stairs and out the back door. She marched up to a pile of swords laying in the grass and stopped, spinning to face him. Her hands landed on her hips and she nodded toward the pile.

“Choose one,” she said sharply.

Good God, she intended to kill him.

“I can't fight you,” he said, staring at the pile warily. “Did I offend you somehow?”

“What?” She looked confused, then snorted. “We're not going to duel. I can slap you with a glove if you'd like, though.” She grinned, looking so much like Mae in that moment. “I've always wanted to do that.”

“Possibly some other time.”

“Then choose,” she waved at the pile. “We're just going to test your skills a bit, see what you got.”

“See if I have magick...” he said quietly.

“Yes,” she said, smiling as she appraised him again, “that's right. Although, we know you have something. It's fucking amazing, by the way. Congratulations on that shit.”

“Thanks,” he chuckled, relaxing enough to study the swords.

“And the whole rescue-by-mural thing? Bravo. That was brilliant. Really...” The purest of emotions flashed through her eyes for just a second. “Thank you, Abel. You saved my sister.”

He wasn't used to Tori showing any kind of vulnerability, and it choked him up.

“Abel?” she said, cocking her head.

“Yeah?”

“I dig you, I really do, but if you cry, this sparring match will become a real fight. Got it?”

“Got it,” he said, his eyes wide. He might have actually gulped. He hoped not.

Then she smiled- yes, it was a bit sinister, but still a smile- and whispered, “Choose.”

Random Snippet: Fear of Heights

“What happened to you?” Tori asked.

“Stratosphere,” Mae whispered.

Tori laughed loudly. “How can you possibly live on the thirty-sixth floor and have an issue with heights?”

“Because I’m Fae. Buildings are different. I can be up high if it’s enclosed and solid. My balcony is fine because my witchy-bitches made sure that nobody is going to go careening over the edge. The Stratosphere, however, has no such guarantee. And it fucking sways.”

“Don’t give her shit,” Ryn chided, poking Tori in the side. “You hate heights too. How many times have you demanded that we move to the bat cave, as you put it? And you hate flying.”

“Damn right, I hate flying,” Tori barked.

“All Fae do,” Mae added. “If I were meant to fly, I’d be an Angel or a pelican, or if I were super-old, a pterodactyl. I would not be a giant metal cigar with unflappable wings. Because, I promise you, if shit goes wrong, this bitch will be flapping.”

Poor Lea (a random snippet)

“Why are you trying to enthrall me?” she asked quietly.

His eyes widened in surprise. “I’m not,” he assured her, “but I find it very satisfying that you’re enthralled by me.” He was sliding under her bedspread, turning down her side. “Now, come to bed.”

Once again, her traitorous body inserted itself right beside him. They were all cozy and warm. Son of a bitch.

“No cuddling,” she warned him, hoping he didn’t hear the quiver in her voice.

Dain touched the lamp to turn it off, then chuckled quietly in the dark. “For now,” he said gruffly.

Though Dain fell asleep right away, it was a long time before Lea could get comfortable. Obviously, he had some kind of agenda, but she didn’t have a clue as to what it might be. Unless it was to drive her crazy, in which case he was doing a stupendous job so far.

Sleep finally rescued Lea from the awkwardness of being so close to Dain. Unfortunately, he was right there waiting for her in her dreams.

And now, for a bit of tension....

Sneak Peek! Please keep in mind that this is a VERY rough draft!

~*~*~*~

Hiding her shock, she watched as Abel’s finger moved from his own knee to hers, still making slow circles. What the…?

“So, you can slip from place to place or realm to realm?” His finger never quit moving. She couldn’t look away.

“Yeah,” she breathed. “You gotta be careful where you go, though.” Was he really going to pretend he wasn’t touching her like that? “Tribes can be territorial and scrappy. Think of them as gangs, and their realms as their turf.”

“That makes sense,” he said, running his fingers back and forth over her knee. Why was… why… “I get what you’re saying.”

What was she saying? Mae couldn’t think much beyond the soft caress of his hand and her heart, which was about to explode. His hand left her knee and wandered up her leg. Not far, but enough to make her want to scream and jump him.

“You said mortals were like cattle. What did you mean by that?”

“I…” All her breath was gone, and she wasn’t sure it was ever coming back. Her gaze was locked to his hand, mesmerized by the back and forth motion across her thigh.

“Mae?” She snapped her head up, meeting his gaze. His eyes were dark, his lips slightly parted, and his fingers just kept rubbing her leg. Rubbing and rubbing…

“Mortals,” she managed, her voice too low and breathy. What had happened here? She’d lost control of the situation, and she wasn’t even sure how it had come to this. Actually, nothing much was happening, but inside of her, all hell was breaking loose.

“Mortals?” he prodded, the smile on his face saying he knew exactly how he was affecting her. But, why was he doing it?

“Mortals aren’t cattle,” she finally forced out, “but a lot of Fae see them as that, like I said. They don’t eat them or anything, but they’re kind of like food in an abstract way. We feed off of them, whether it’s their blood, their fear, their lust, their luck, their hate… It’s all energy.”

“You’re like psychic cannibals.” He spoke to her leg, where he watched his skin make contact with hers.

“Yeah,” she agreed. “Abel?”

“Yeah?” he said, sounding distracted.

“What are you doing?”

His movements slowed, but didn’t stop. “I honestly don’t know.”

“I see,” she mumbled, staring with him.

After a long stretch of silence, Abel looked up at her. “Sometimes, I really want to kiss you.”

Mae’s brows reached for the sky, and she knew the shock showed on her face. “Abel, I… you…”

His fingers left her leg as he threw his hands in the air. “I know, I know. I have a girlfriend and I’m your student and I really don’t even know why I said that. Just forget I said that. Please.”

How in the hell could she forget he said that?

“No. Yeah, I mean, no… It’s cool. It’s fine. It’s… Yeah, okay.”

Abel jumped to his feet and all but ran for the door. “I should go.”

Mae was still stuck on how to forget that he wanted to kiss her. Kiss her. With his mouth.

My allergies have become a summer cold. I'm sneezing like crazy and writing like a fiend (or at least trying... hard to do between the sneezes sometimes). That's pretty much it right now.

So, yeah... That's all I got right now. Apparently, my brain is fresh out of wit.

Sneak preview from book 2

A little something from the current book... my sister Laura and I chose this passage to share, because it's a rare glimpse at an emotional Mae. :)

~*~*~*~*~*~

The most important achievement of humans, in Mae’s opinion, was coffee. Well, that and the disco ball. And french-fries.

Mae closed her eyes as her latte warmed her throat and tickled her taste buds. “Liquid ambrosia,” she muttered happily.

“Excuse me, Miss,” a soft, frail voice said from behind her.

Mae turned around to face an elderly, human male with hardly any hair, a million wrinkles, and kind eyes. Familiar eyes.

“Yes?” she said, searching those eyes in hopes of sparking some kind of recognition. It was there, at the edge of her mind, but she just couldn’t figure out where she knew him from.

“This may sound strange, but are you related to… that is,” he shuffled nervously as he tried to find the right words. Clearing his throat, he started again. “My name is Marcus Allerby.”

His wrinkled hand reached out and she took it, shaking it gently. His skin was so soft. As memories of her beloved Marcus rushed back to her, emotion caught in her throat, and Mae had to blink hard to keep the tears away.

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Allerby,” she managed. “I’m Mae.”

Marcus smiled, and for an instant, it was her Marcus that stood before her. “Mae,” he said softly, “that was her name. You look just like her.” His voice was wistful. “Just like her.”

“My grandmother’s name was Mae,” she lied. “They say I look just like she did at my age.”

He accepted that, as well as the bits and pieces of her grandmother’s history that she gave him. It was enough to convince Marcus that he had the right granddaughter, and they spent the next hour chatting about the past.

She’d met Marcus just after WWII had ended, on his first night home, in fact. He was handsome and charming and the sweetest boy Mae had met in a very long time. The romance had been brief but intense. She’d loved him. With all of her heart. But…

He was human, and he wasn’t her anam-cara… but mostly, he was human, so she couldn’t hold on to him. Marcus would eventually grow old and Mae wouldn’t, and unfortunately, only Mae understood that. So, in typical Mae fashion, she’d disappeared.

Never had she thought, even in the middle of a Reckoning, that she’d see this man again. But here he was, telling Mae her own memories and shattering her heart with his quiet words and his twinkling eyes. Marcus wasn’t bitter about the past. He didn’t understand Mae’s disappearance, but had decided, as the years went by, to let go of wondering and just hang on to the memories they’d shared.

He'd married a beautiful woman that he truly loved, and had five grown children and a gaggle of grandchildren. As he proudly showed off the pictures of his family, Mae choked down the overwhelming urge to explain everything. Suddenly, it was very important to her that Marcus understand what had happened, though she knew it was impossible to tell him the truth.

He'd had a good life and he had wonderful memories of a lost love. Mae had to leave things as they were, not only for his sake, but for her own.

As they said good-bye, Marcus took her hand and kissed it sweetly, wishing her well and thanking her for her time. It was bittersweet for Mae, and a good reminder of why she did not get involved with humans anymore. By the time she reached her apartment door, the tears flowed freely down her cheeks, and she was helpless to stop the memories rolling through her head.

Thankfully, the apartment was empty. Mae flopped down on the couch and blew across her palm, allowing the memories to play themselves out. The crying ended as the exhaustion took over, and her heavy eyelids slid closed as Mae and a very young, very handsome Lieutenant Allerby danced the night away in her hand.

Perhaps I have issues I'm not addressing

I used to think it was bad when I talked to myself, and even worse when I answered, but now... now there's a whole lot to be worried about going on in my head....

Mae: Why aren't you writing about me? I thought this was my book.

Me: It is your book, what do you think all those pages are about?

Mae: Yeah, but everybody else is getting up in it...

Me: Mae, there's a lot to tell, but the story is yours.

Mae: How come Tori got her own book and I have to share with everybody?

Me: Things were just getting started in Tori's book. There's a lot more story to tell now.

Mae: Well, why can't I just tell it?

Tori: Shut your yap, Maeday! Just be happy you get a book at all.

Lea: Exactly. You were in Tori's book much more than I was, and you don't see me complaining.

Mae: Yeah, but that's because you weren't important.

Lea: Watch it, Sis... You're coming to my house in a few chapters. You wanna eat while you're there? If so, I suggest you put a lid on it, pronto.

Mae: Fine, whatevs. But why do the bitches have to be in it so much?

Me: Bitches?

Mae: You know, Vee, Kako...

Vivie: Excuse me? Bitches?

Mae: Vee, you know I mean that in a sweet way.

Vivie: If you want to be sweet, don't start with "bitches."

Tori: Would you two shut the hell up already? I'm rockin a nasty headache all of the sudden.

Me: *heavy sigh* Maybe I should write the other story...

Mae, Tori, Lea, Vivie: WHAT???

at least that got their attention... and all is quiet for a while in my head... mostly.

I feel a bit like I'm cheating on myself

So I'm a couple of chapters into book 2 in my series, but I have another story rattling around in my head. I'm not sure what to do about it, because I'm afraid writing two totally different books at the same time will really do a number on my brain. I'd hate for Mae to accidentally end up in the woods of Arkansas... she'd probably be pretty pissed about it too, though it would serve her right (just ask Natalie).

This new story is not really new, but something I've been tossing around for a while now. It's set in the backwoods of Arkansas, and while it's paranormal, it's not romance (sorry, ladies!). I'd really like to keep it stewing on the back burner, at least until I get Mae's story finished, but damn... it won't leave me alone.

I'm going to blame Karina Halle for this... as I'm knee-deep and totally addicted to her Experiment in Terror series, and they just put me in the perfect mood to think super-creepy thoughts. Maybe I should stay away from her books until I'm done writing Mae's.

Yeah, that's not going to happen AT ALL.

For now, I'll keep writing Mae's story, but the time may come when I have to start putting this other story on the page and cheating on Mae. On me? Not sure who I'd actually be cheating on here, but the whole thing feels a little seedy anyway. Whatevs, as Mae would say.

Random snippet from what I'm writing now

Just a lil something from what I'm working on currently...

“Ladies and gentleman, kids of all ages,” Mae said loudly, grabbing everyone’s attention. “We’re going to drink a little, smoke a lot, and then I’m going to bring you up-to-date on the events of the last two weeks. Get your holy-shit faces ready, boys and girls, because this is quite the story.”

A few things will happening on June 1st regarding the book.

First and foremost, Faetal Distraction will be available exclusively on Amazon for 3 months. So if you want a Nook edition, get it before the end of May. When the 3 months is up, the book will be available on Amazon, B&N and All Romance. But for 90 days, it's going to only be available as a Kindle book or a trade paperback.

And that brings me to the second big change. Amazon will be making the book available to bookstores and libraries and foreign markets, which is going to raise the price of the book from $14.50 to $19.99. This also takes place on June 1st, so get it while it's (fairly) cheap!

That's it, I think. God knows, it's enough to deal with for now.

Shut up, Mae!

I'm six pages in on book 2, and Mae is already driving me crazy!

I knew she'd be a challenge to write... she's been puttering around in my head for months now. She's mouthy and opinionated and a little ADD, which makes it difficult to get a coherent and continuous thought out of the woman. And she's argumentative. She wants a different HEA... she just doesn't think this one is a good match, and isn't too shy to tell me that... every damn day.

But I know Mae better than she knows herself, and this guy... this guy is exactly what she needs. So we're riding this one out, despite her protests and threats, and I think she'll thank me for it in the end.

But until the end comes, I really wish she'd just shut the hell up for a minute and let me think!

My Problem With Rock Star Novels

I am a huge fan of rock star books (especially romances), but have found myself frustrated lately as I try and find good rocker books to devour. The blurbs always sound fantastic, and the content is almost always meh.

And here's why:

  • Silly bitches that get on my nerves
    • If you're going to hang out with a rock star, especially if you know who the guy is, then you know that there are certain things that go along with the rock star life. Parties, groupies, press... lots of press. So many times the girl whines and complains about paparazzi or groupies or the rowdy parties. He's a ROCK STAR. Did you think the band would be backstage building Lego castles and eating Oreos? If the rock star life bothers you, perhaps you should date a dentist.
  • Even sillier bitches who hate rough language
    • If you're on a rock band's tour bus and you bitch at them for cussing, you need to get off the fucking bus!
  • Too much "old flame" bullshit
    • The concept of the girl running into her high school boyfriend who is now a famous rock star? Yeah, that's been done. A lot. Maybe give that storyline a rest for a while.
  • Virgins and rock stars
    • STOP THIS! While I'm not opposed to a virgin-meets-bad-boy story now and then, the reality of these rock stars jumping on the abstinence train to wait for the virgin to be ready is just not very plausible. Not saying it's impossible, but really...
  • Rock stars that don't act like rock stars
    • This one is just flat annoying. You're a rock star, not a middle schooler dammit! Grab a bottle of jack, the nearest groupie, and do something rocker-like already!
  • Rock stars who do act like rock stars then become pansies because of love
    • Look, I know love is supposed to tame the wild beast, but not too much. So many books start out with these great bad boy characters, and then they become complete wimps when they meet their HEA. WRONG! So, so wrong.

Give me a rock star romance with a bad boy who stays bad, a chick who can handle the rock lifestyle... maybe even a chick who can out-bad the bad boy... and for the love of Pete, if you're going to write a book about rockers, include the sex, drugs and rock-n-roll!!!

You know what the problem is? I discovered the rock star romance genre via Olivia Cunning, as many of us did... she's ruined us for the rest of them. Let's hope she keeps writing, because otherwise, we're all screwed!

Kindle Edition Now Live

The kindle edition is now live on Amazon!

You can find it here... though there's no picture and I can't figure out how to fix it!

Helloooooo Goodreads!

I'm on Goodreads now!

Okay, that's kind of a lie... the now part, at least... because I've been on there for a while. Seems I never get off of there! But oh, the books I've found!

But now, I'm an author on there, which is something else entirely.

Okay, so that's kind of an untruth as well... it's really just the same thing, except now my book is attached to my profile.

Hmmm... so basically I'm still on Goodreads. Wow... not as nearly exciting in type as the whole thing was in my head, but a huge happiness for me nonetheless!

Visit me at Goodreads (where I'm not new, but my book is)!!!

Time to do it all again...

The book will going 'live' in a couple of days.

Last night, I worked out the outline for book 2, which is Mae's story. Time to start writing again, and thank the gods for it, because Mae will not shut up in my head! For those who have read the first book, they know Mae is quite the character. This book is going to be a helluva ride.

In book 2:

Magick gone awry
Mystery man with amnesia
Magickal paintings
A trip to Fae-ville
Evil abductors
Spies and infiltrators
And men... lots and lots of men (it's Mae, after all)

So much fun! I can't wait to get started.

Prologue

PROLOGUE

There was blood everywhere. It pooled between the gravel in the driveway and stained the ominous stone steps. Ruddy footsteps seemed to lead in all directions and a crimson hand print smeared its way down the white front door. Bits and pieces of who-knows-what were scattered among the body parts littering the ground.
A severed head lay six inches from his feet. Cohn took an instinctive step back and sighed heavily, keeping his breaths shallow to ward off the acrid smell of death that surrounded him. This had been a hell of a fight.
As he registered the sound of labored breathing beside him, he turned to face his head of security. At least that's who he thought it was- hard to tell who exactly was underneath all the gore. “Our men?"
"All alive. These guys weren't so lucky." Ryn swept his bloody sword over the carnage.
"Their luck ran out the minute they stepped foot on my property. Apparently we've just run out of time. It's moving day... again."
"This wasn't a planned attack. I'm pretty sure it was a scouting mission gone awry. If it had been Daniel patrolling instead of Jaroz, we may never have known they were here. Jaroz smelled them, attacked them first."
"Doesn't matter. We can't risk keeping her here any longer- when these bastards don't return, he'll know he’s hit the mark. She has to be gone before he comes for her. And he will come for her, I assure you of that."
Ryn raised his brows. "You have someplace in mind?"
Cohn shook his head gravely. "Not yet, but I’ll work that out. How long do you need to recover and prepare?"
"Three days, tops."
Cohn squatted to sit on one of the steps then, remembering the blood, jolted to his feet. "I won't be attending this move. I've become too easy to track."
The first few raids had been hundreds of years apart, but the gaps had closed in over time. The last assault had been only eleven years ago. "I'm calling in someone to go with you. I need the rest of the men here for round two."
Ryn exhaled and said tentatively, "Do you think it's wise to only send two, especially now that he's upping his game? No offense, but have you thought this through?"
Cohn squinted his eyes shut and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Ryn, for a thousand years, I've done nothing but think this through. Every soldier you take with you increases your chance for discovery, as well as slows you down. And we need defense here. You're an assassin, the best I'd dare say, and this woman is the most ruthless mercenary I've ever known."
Shocked, Ryn spat out, "Woman?"
"Yes, Ryn, a woman. A soldier who has taken the heads of gods, escaped from countless prisons and dungeons, and decimated an army of mortals by herself. Do not underestimate her simply because she wears a bra."
Ryn looked incredulous, but only nodded. "Three days, then. I'll be ready."
"Marchand!" Cohn bellowed into the house from over his shoulder. "Bring me a phone!"

And a Universe was Born...

Though not technically in the story itself, I thought the creation myth for the universe Tori lives in might be something I could share.

Creation Myth
from the Book of Knowing

An unfathomably long time ago, before time was but an idea being casually mulled over, Knowing moved restlessly across the Great Nothing. Restlessness grew and soon swelled into a dull ache of boredom. Knowing sighed, spilling particles over the void.
Feeling, that's what would quell the never ending boredom. Experience. Duality. Physical. Another shiver.
Possibility rose up, flickered, expanded and contracted quicker than the blink of an eye. All that would come- cause, reaction, counter action- sent shivers over the void, setting particles dancing and colliding into one another. Fusing and forming... waiting.
This would be messy. Would it be worth the effort? Oh, yes.
Decision made, Knowing drew in a deep breath, closed in on itself and bared down.
Existence exploded.
Ahh.. Physical. Knowing almost flinched at the voice, full and rich, rolling sensually across the vast expanse. Thought. It was a pleasing sound.
Wait.
And with that single command, creation held it's breath. Knowing savored this moment, savored the experience of savoring, relishing the eternities that were about to play out before itself. Unbound joy swirled in a fiery spiral, reaching ever outward, alive with twinkling particles quivering with eagerness to expand and be.
Yes, this would be worth it... this was already worth it, and it had yet to begin.
Universes hovered at the brink of subsistence, anxious for their awakening. Knowing drew in upon itself once again and whispered, Now.

Source looked out upon itself, the once empty void now alive with light and motion, and it was pleased. Stars blinked into form, galaxies swirled and collided, universes expanded and succumbed. Source felt the friction and the fusion, the creation and the destruction, and it was good.
Knowing had never been enough, and so it had birthed itself into form, into Source. How strange and utterly delectable to create thought, shape it, name it.. make it be. So much activity, so much feeling, so much physical.
And yet...
Restlessness hovered at the fringes, threatening to spoil this triumphant coherency. Yes, it would all play out.. no stopping it now. Source thought to be content with this cyclic birthing and destroying and re-birthing of itself, but physical always demands the next step.. always demands more.
Source felt... alone? That was new. Knowing was always content with the All, but now it was more, now it was Source, and Source needed more than a unified All- Source needed the details. I filled with a great need to be We. A new thought was formed.
I will create in my own image, free of thought and free of will. I will pour myself into physical and will immerse in being. Source overflowed into the expanse.
Each time Source poured itself into physical, each time it's pure creative essence met the edges of duality, it split itself- two parts of a same whole, each whole part of the same Source. Farther and farther down it condensed, pushing through the hazy veil of separation into physical. More and more acutely it concentrated into matter- halves of wholes and wholes of All... And the Seed was born.
Pure Source, begotten from Knowing, the Seed scattered across all of creation, full of wonder and willfulness and so eager to experience. Forged in creative fire, gifted with the power of the All, splintered by the double-edged nature of duality- the Seed were the first Adams and Eves of the cosmos. The heavens were theirs to command, to create and to destroy.
Within themselves they held the powers of life and death, good and evil, love and fear. Their sole mission, to experience infinite possibilities, allowing Source to experience through them thus sharing the wonders of physical with Knowing.
They spawned worlds upon worlds, populating them with wonders and creatures of all kinds, but soon they were restless for more.. physical always wants more. So the Seed also created in their own image.
Now, gods of their own making, the Seed gifted their children with the free will they themselves so cherished, as well as boundless blessings of powerful potential, and gave them reign over all the Seed had conceived.
And thus the Tribes were forged.

Hello and welcome! Not much to see here yet, but stick around... there will be plenty of book updates, excerpts and more to come soon. In the meantime, here's a small blurb about the book. A more detailed synopsis will be posted in the next few days!

After 2000 years of fighting countless wars, escaping numerous prisons, drowning repeatedly, and even being crucified, Tori would have never thought that babysitting would be the most dangerous thing she's ever done. But when the sleeping beauty she's been hired to transport across the mortal realm wakes up, her fairytale turns into a nightmare.

To make matters worse, her tribe of Fae has triggered a Reckoning- fate's way of bringing balance to the karmic scales- that is systematically bringing Tori face to face with her past, including the man she's just been partnered with. But Ryn is no ordinary blast from the past. He's the gorgeous hunk of flesh she duped, doped and ditched over 200 years ago, and has been running from ever since.

Oh, and he's her soul mate. Unfortunately for Tori, that's not a good thing, because being with Ryn will cost her a piece of her soul- literally.

So, between paying karmic dues, the nanny gig, and battling for her soul, Tori has been pretty distracted lately. And distractions will get you killed.
