About Me

Let me start off by saying I absolutely hate bios. I don't know why... maybe it's because I'm uncomfortable talking about myself, maybe it's because I don't know what to say... whatever it is, it gets in the way, because if you're an author, you need a bio.

I'm in my mid forties. I know, I know... I don't look it. Thank you for saying so... you're my new best friend. I've been writing practically my whole life, though I kept to poetry and prose for most of it. I always thought that I'd never be able to write a novel because I wasn't detail oriented. I was wrong, though I still struggle with the details. You learn a lot when you write a book, and I've learned that you don't always have to describe every single thing... sometimes it's better to leave things up to the reader's imagination.

This story started from a drunken conversation with two of my sisters on New Year's Eve, 2012. We were discussing Fifty Shades, and I made an off-hand comment that I could totally do that. That one little statement led to an elaborate conversation about what I would write if I were to actually write. The main characters are based loosely on my sisters, myself, and my daughter. The idea for the story just sort of birthed itself... starting with the idea of a real life Sleeping Beauty, and ending with a full-on rescue of an entire kingdom.

These characters are very much alive in my head. They talk among themselves, essentially driving me crazy when I'm not writing. But beyond this crazy cast of characters, I have several stories bouncing around my brain. Once this series is complete (I predict 5 books and a novella), I intend to jump into the deep waters of horror. I guess we'll see what happens when it happens.

A little background on me... I was born on an Air Force base in Michigan, spent my very early years in Arkansas, most of my youth in Colorado, moved back to Arkansas  for several years, back to Colorado, and then to North Carolina, where I am today. I love steak, chocolate, tequila, and laughter. My heroes are Space Ghost, John Crichton, Archer, and a host of other people that don't actually exist. I am a total fangirl over Neil Gaiman and Stephen King. I'm a complete nerd, and I like it that way!

As an independent author, I am begging for your support and encouragement, and the best way you can do that is by leaving reviews of my work. So, if you like what you read, leave a review on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Goodreads, and anywhere else you can! I thank you in advance.
